08-20-01 2:20p - After really getting in to this diary entry I was working on, I had to get a page dedicated to space going here in my Thoughts section.

I was going off about how the US has been carrying a major part of the burden in getting the ISS (International Space Station) built.  Key word here:  INTERNATIONAL  Billions upon billions of US tax dollars have gone in to this thing, and we're continually helping the Russians meet their end of the bargain.  I don't know too many details, but I've read plenty of material speaking about Russia's lack of responsibility in getting things done on-time, on-budget.

I've been telling myself (and certain individuals) for a while now that I think space could be the thing that brings about world peace.  (I'd love to have WorldPeace.com, but some schmuck has it already and doesn't seem to be doing much with it at all.)

Anyway, if every country on our planet were dedicated to the exploration and utilization of space, then I think every person of working age could have a job.  Whether building space suits, making space food, making space cloths... you see what I'm saying?  The amount of stuff (there it is again!) needed to colonize in space or on another planet of some sort could easily carry the planet.  Think of 1 huge, harmonious Earth working together to see what's out there.  A world full of scientists.  Every person could say that they've contributed to the greatest adventure every, as well as a study in to where we come from.

Sometimes I worry that I won't make an impact in my life.  I want to be able to say I did something important, and I want the history books to show that what I did was good.  This could be an easy way for every person on Earth to say that same thing, don't ya think?
