My senior year of high school was an absolute
blast and I'd give anything to do it again. I had made up my mind that I wanted to
attend either Bowling Green or Ohio State, but I really didn't have reasoning beyond the
fact that my dad had attended BG. I put in applications to BG and OSU, both of which
denied me. That felt kind of shitty because I knew my GPA was pretty low, but I
scored an 1100 on my SAT and a 23 on my ACT which I thought was proof that I was smart,
just not very motivated. While all my friends were going off to college I was stuck
at Cleveland State University. I signed up for Macro Economics, Western Civ, and
Computer Information Systems. I had a really cool teacher for Econ, a fairly cool
teacher for Western Civ, and a bunch of DP's for the computer class. (DP=deported
person) I was really upset how bad CSU was lacking updated computer equipment.
I went home and completed all of the homework for that
semester in about an hour. (Can you say 'JOKE'!)
Then I had the opportunity of a lifetime, thanks to my good friend Tim. His uncles run a computer related
company called Tactical Computer Company and
they were looking for some help. I went for an interview if you could call it that
and everything seemed really cool. I called my dad on the way home to tell him about
this wonderful chance for me to get started in the computer industry. If I was to
take this job though, I'd be working full-time and college would no longer be needed.
My dad didn't think this too wise of a decision but he left it up to me which I
thank him for. I took the job and it's turned out to be the greatest thing that has
ever happened to me. I build computers, web sites, and I will be learning to
program shortly. I have access to just about any computer product my heart desires
and my bosses are the coolest guys on the face of the Earth. |
