Space Shuttle Columbia & Crew
Seven lives were lost as space shuttle Columbia broke
apart during re-entry in to Earth's atmosphere. There was a
problem during take-off in which a piece of material broke off from an
external fuel tank and hit the wing, possibly causing the damage that
turned in to this terrible accident. Two very large ironies 1)
the first Israeli astronaut was on board and 2) we just passed the
17-year anniversary of the space
shuttle Challenger tragedy - January 28, 1986. I remember
the day Challenger exploded, I was in school, 2nd grade I
believe. I feel for the families of these astronauts and for our
fledgling space program. Don't give up NASA. I would like
to take a trip to space before I pass.
