12:04p - Yo yo yo. Awesome news peeps. Another one of
my predictions has come true.
Sony
has FINALLY adapted their
MiniDisc technology for the PC, replacing the evil 1.44MB floppy disk
completely! They've added a new MX
series in their Vaio PC lineup which includes the MD drive (
dubbed
NetMD) along with a Pentium 4 1.7GHz processor and a DVD/CD-RW drive.
(Hmm... just like Apple's superdrive.)
Another
boo-yah! feature is the fact that they've included "Giga
Pocket Personal Video recorder" software which is basically a DVR
(digital video recorder) for taping TV shows to your PC's hard drive for
later viewing, as well as the ability to pause live TV and those types
of thangs. With the included 80GIG hard drive you can get just
about every episode of Friends and Boston Public for the foreseeable
future. :)
I've got questions, and I bet Radio Shack doesn't have
these answers;
-
What kind of copyright protection has Sony taken the
liberty to include? Will I be able to copy my MP3s to the MDs?
-
On that note; when will there be an MD audio player
for my car that supports MP3s?
-
How restrictive is the DVR software?
-
Can I record shows to the MD and DVD/CD-RW drive as
well as the hard drive?
There's a separate daughter board inside for all of the transfers
between audio/video components, so the processor never gets bogged down by moving
your digital information between CD, DVD, MD, audio/video in/out, etc.
The whole scoop is worth seeing for yourself. Check
it out.
News from the Homefront
I just installed Links LS 2001 on my new WinXP machine
for my dad. He asked about it the other day because the cold
weather has killed off outdoor golf for a while, and he get nervous when
he can't get his golfin' fix. The installation when pretty smooth,
but there are some hickups. Like, I CAN'T SAVE THE DAMN PLAYERS
I'M CREATING! "Unable to Save Player". What the
frack is that?! Microsoft's Knowledge Base has nothing concerning
this problem, so I'm getting really mad.
I
have to give Chybo props, 'cause we were arguing about the size of the
Xbox and Gamecube and I just found this image from Anandtech.
Gamecube on top, Xbox on bottom.
The Xbox is a monster! I don't care, I still want it.
:) Nate already has 'em both, I wonder how he finds time to do
anything else!
Last night I went out w/Chybo, Rox, Nicole, and two of
her friends Tim and Beth. We headed out to Legends in Berea.
I was totally not in to it, just kinda stood around like a
dip-shit. Too many drinking nights for me lately, I need to calm
down.
Went to the Hideaway with Lynnora, Nathan, Julie, and
Rich on Friday night and got really tore up, danced for like 4 hours
straight. I had no energy in the reserves for last night I guess.
So now it's Brownie
time! No time for a shower, it's almost kickoff time! I'm
out for now y'all! Talk to ya soon...
Jr.
9:09p - Just got done with a couple of rounds of
Age of Empires II w/Chybo... gotta love that game. I got camera #1
working in the webcams section, don't mind the fact that it says
"camera2". I'll fix that in a moment.
Browns lost today. I'm so mad. Went to The
Winking Lizard, got wings and a burger, and they lost! DAMN
YOU! :) That's disappointing big-time, and now playoff hopes
are down.
Hmmm.. Monday Monday. So good to... not me.
I REALLY need to get up and swim tomorrow morning. Yeah.
Yeah! HELL YEAH! lol
I talked to Amanda
the other night and she mentioned that she is moving to London for a
while because of a job! This lucky girl gets to go all over the
damn place. I'm jealous. I told her so.
