8:01am - Hola. How was your weekend? Anything
exciting happen? I went down to Miami University for the first
time, and I was impressed. The campus is really sweet, and the
kids seems pretty groovy too. :) I got to see my true 2
homeboys Erik & Sam. We basically used to live together
during the summers, playin' hoops and gambling on the pool
table. I've been sayin' since we graduated and they headed to
Miami that I'd visit, so I finally came through.
OK, after a shower and all it's 8:45am and I have some
appointments, so I'll have to add the pictures to Album 13 later
today.

4:22pm - Cool. I just got sent a virus. (I'm a
geek remember, so it didn't get me. :) More on that in a
second.) I called the customer of mine whom it came from, and
let her know about the virus attachment that came on her
message. She knew too, because 1 other person had called - so
far. These things set off nifty chain reactions. LOL
FOR THE NON-GEEK
The reason I didn't get nailed by the virus was because I knew it
was a virus before I opened it. It goes like this:
All files have a name. That name is made up of
|
The name you give it... |
...and the "extension" |
|
This Is My File |
.doc |
Now your computer (Windows... bah!) knows that This
Is My File.doc is a Microsoft (them again?!) Word
Document. The extension is the key. Your operating system
keeps a list of program and what files they are associated with (which
you can go mess with tweak BTW).
Extensions off the top of my head
mp3, dll, exe, jpg, gif, xls, htm, pcx, txt, zip, bat, bmp
Stuff you'll use:
MP3 - The revolutionary sound file format that
changed the music industry for the 21st century. Then got shut
down - today! Or at least the court order came in. It's
still runnin' as of 4:48, so I don't know what's gonna happen.
Think they'll flip the switch at 5PM?
HTM, ASP - Web Pages
DOC - Microsoft Word
OK, enough free computer knowledge for today. hehe
I've got pictures from this weekend to add, so I'll do that now in Album
13. Word up foo's!
