OK, yesterday I wanted to blab about some recent news, but it was
way too late for that. Today I have some time, so here we go.
NEWS
Hunt the Planet
This is the coolest new game. Imagine a scavenger hunt that covers the
world. There's a new hobby they're calling "Geocaching",
which uses GPS receivers (global positioning system) creates just such
a game. Participants place a cache anywhere they want. In
the stash - whether it's a lock-box or a zip-lock bag - they leave a
prize. It can be anything, a note, some cash $$, or batteries for your
GPS unit (they eat 'em up). Then, log on to the Geocaching
web site and plug in the coordinates for the prize you've
hidden. Anybody is able to log in, get the directions, and hunt
it down. How cool is that?!
Once you manage to find the berried treasure, just replace the prize with something
else and you're on
your way. It goes on forever, and you'll definitely find some
great adventures in the process. I'd make some road trips for this kinda
thing. Now just imagine when they marry your buddy list to your
GPS receiver and webcam. You can be walkin' talkin' and gawkin'
anytime anywhere anyplace. Whoa.
Anyway, here
is CNN's take on the matter.
Your next hard drive might be a hologram
Yup, another thing
that has been talked about for a long time is using holographs to
store information. It makes sense; a hard drive is 2
dimensional, a hologram is 3 dimensional. That added dimension
greatly increases the amount of information that can be stored.
They're talking about 300Gbit per square inch! Um, that's nutz.
Ars has the word on this one.
For some reason my cable modem service is actin' up and I can't
browse the web, so I'm gonna have to pause on this page for a
bit. I'll add some more later 'cause there's a still some more
kewl shit to chat about.

OK,
I'm back. I goofed and I was workin' on today's diary entry
yesterday, so now I have to add some more to this one to get things
right again. I just found another awesome link from the guys at Ars
with some great photos of concept cars. Click
for the goodz.
I went
nutz about the PT Cruiser because I loved that 50's-gangter-ride look
that it
had. Now lots of old-but new cars are coming out, including Chrysler's
Super8 Hemi concept that really kicks
some arse. Suicide doors, wrap-around windshield, and the
interior is straight outta the 50's. Bench seats and all.
I would drive this thing in a second. Now if they'd just stop
toying with us and produce it already! :)
OK, I'm out again. Possible trip to OU this weekend to visit Missy, so I'll have some more eye candy
for ya.
