3:56PM - Hey folks.  I'm coming to you today through FrontPage 2000.  This is the latest version of Microsoft's web publishing software.  I must admit, I'm a little unhappy with the changes they've made.  I was able to fly through FrontPage 98 and do everything I needed to do very quickly.  In this new version they've changed all kinds of keyboard shortcuts and made my life much more difficult (at least for a little while until I learn this version).

BUT, they have added some features

Anyway, the last few days have been great computer days.  I just got my new soundcard from the UPS guy today.  I ordered a SoundBlaster LIVE card a couple of days ago for like $50 and it's the best audio card out there right now.  With my old card (AWE Gold) I couldn't hear an incoming ICQ message (ya know, that UH-OH sound) because it only supported 1 wav sound at a time.  With this new card I can hear a ton of WAV sounds at once, so that's much better.  Also, since I have 2 CD-ROMs (a 44X normal IDE and an 8X burner) I need to be able to hook both of them up.  Again, with the old sound card I couldn't do that.  With this new one I can.  Boo-ya.  :)

I finally got my iMac working on my LAN last night too.  This has been something I've been waiting to do forever!  It turns out that it's much easier than I thought it would be.  There's a really nice piece of software called Dave (made by Thursby Systems) that allows me to treat the iMac as if it were just another Windows PC.  Now I can share my MP3 collection between the two OS's and everything.  Plus, now I'm going to start using the Mac for graphics and stuff, which is really what Macs have always been better at.  Any time you hear that a Mac is faster than a comparable Windows-based PC, it's

I also have to give a shout-out to HomePCNetwork, a terrific web site that my buddy Ross helped me find while I was trying to figure out what I needed to do to get the iMac to work with my PC's.  If you need help setting up a LAN in your home or office, this is the place to go for some great info!

So anyway, I got my new sound card, got the iMac working on the LAN, got a copy of Office 2000, and I also got a copy of Windows 98 SE (Second Edition).  So things are swell.  I'm done writing in here for today.  Go peep the Links Section for some other great web sites to check out.

Talk to ya soon,

Boss Hog
